Bard Music Festival: Movement, Miniatures, & Mysticism

  • Spiegeltent Bard 60 Manor Avenue Red Hook, NY 12571 USA (map)

Trace the influence of Frédéric Chopin's work in the music of Les Six to Witold Lutosławski (1913-94), Henryk Górecki (1933-2010), Marta Ptaszynska (b. 1943), Agata Zubel (b. 1978), and others. Part of the 2017 Bard Music Festival, Chopin and His World, featuring the work of Chopin and his contemporaries. The Festival ventures beyond Chopin's chronological career, and—through concerts, panels, and lectures—addresses how attitudes to the composer have changed since his death in 1849, how we hear Chopin today, and, most importantly, why he still matters.

Nathaniel will perform works by Francis Poulenc, Darius Milhaud, Jean Françaix, and Henryk Górecki. Tickets range from $15 to $40. Click here for more information.
